BREAKING: Bahraini-British motor racing team 2 Seas Motorsport defied the odds to claim a stunning victory in class this evening – despite starting from the back of a massive 61-car grid – in the 10th and final round of the 2026 GT World Challenge (GTWC) Europe, held at Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao, Portugal.
The crew of Kiern Jewiss, Charles Dawson, and Reece Barr steered 2 Seas’ number 222 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo to first place amongst Bronze Cup competitors while finishing 13th overall.
They were in second-to-last place in 60th at the start of the three-hour race, which wrapped up in darkness, but gradually made their way up the order for the sensational result.
Meanwhile, four-time Formula One world champion Max Verstappen claimed fifth place in Pro Cup and ninth overall in the number three Mercedes-AMG of Team Verstappen Racing, which was operated throughout the GTWC Europe season by 2 Seas.
Verstappen and teammates Ben Barnicoat and Chris Lulham started 11th in class and 15th overall but did well to climb up the rankings by the chequered flag.
2 Seas are co-owned by Bahrain's Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
