The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov.
The meeting took place on the occasion of the Russian Minister's visit to Bahrain to participate in the ministerial meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between GCC and Russia.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the close, friendly relations between the two countries and explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest for the mutual benefit of both nations and their friendly peoples.
The two sides also reviewed regional developments, as well as regional and international efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and maintaining regional security and stability.
Furthermore, they discussed prospects for strengthening diplomatic coordination and consultation within the UN Security Council , leveraging the Russian Federation's permanent membership and Bahrain's non-permanent membership for the 2026-2027 term regarding the various issues and challenges addressed by the Council.
