MPs are preparing to vote on three proposed pension law amendments that would increase financial benefits for pensioners and their families, despite the Shura Council rejecting the measures over concerns about the financial burden on pension funds.
One of the proposals would increase the marriage grant for eligible widows, daughters, granddaughters and sisters receiving a government pension from 18 months of their pension to 24 months, while raising the minimum payment from BD540 to BD1,000 .
