Dubai's famous Dubai Gold District has added another milestone to its legacy with a pair of massive 22-carat gold earrings that broke two Guinness World Records.
Created by Joyalukkas Jewellery and named Mayura Sahasra, meaning "A Thousand Peacocks", the jhumka-style earrings set records for being both the heaviest pair of gold earrings and the largest pair of gold earrings in the world.
The combined pair weighs 16.514kg and measures 1.215 metres in length and 0.682 metres in diameter.
It took 55 skilled artisans more than 5,840 hours to complete the intricate, peacock-inspired design.
The record-breaking jewellery is now on permanent public display at the Jewel of Joy by Joyalukkas in the Dubai Gold District.
