New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani received an unexpected greeting during a recent visit to the New York Aquarium when a seal named Pickles gave him a kiss on the cheek.
Mamdani visited the facility alongside City Council member Kayla Santosuosso.
The viral encounter coincided with the announcement of a $2 million administration investment to renovate the aquarium's Sea Cliffs exhibit.
The popular exhibit provides a habitat for rescued sea otters, harbour seals, sea lions, and penguins.
