AN appeals court upheld the death penalty handed to a muezzin who murdered and dismembered a Bahraini imam.
The Supreme Criminal Appeals Court today rejected the appeal by the 39-year-old Bangladeshi man who viciously beat Shaikh Abduljalil Hmood with a metal rod to death after morning prayers on August 4.
He dismembered the imam’s body and was caught trying to dump the body parts in a scrapyard in Askar the following day.
The defendant was found guilty of premeditated murder by the High Criminal Court on November 1.
