McLaren unveiled its 'sensational' new supercar to the world yesterday at its base in the UK after concerns over the European spread of the coronavirus resulted in the original launch plans at the Geneva International Motor Show in Switzerland being scuppered.
The unveiling took place at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking with McLaren Automotive CEO Mike Flewitt leading a press conference and giving details of the new supercar, as well as other product and business updates.
Lighter, more powerful and with even higher levels of performance on both road and track, the McLaren 765LT is the latest in a line of ‘Longtail’ McLarens and described as 'the most dynamically advanced and engaging LT model ever from McLaren Automotive'.
Bahrain’s sovereign wealth fund Mumtalakat is the majority shareholder of the McLaren Group. Within it, the British sports car marque considers the kingdom its second home and its McLaren Bahrain Tower, the marque’s third-largest facility globally after McLaren Technology Centre and McLaren Production Centre in England, will open in the shadow of Bahrain International Circuit on March 19.
“The 765LT is the most accomplished and exhilarating LT model ever from McLaren Automotive. Incredible performance and astonishing levels of driver engagement – the result of hundreds of detailed engineering actions undertaken to ensure the purest possible connection between driver and car – are the stand-out attributes of an LT developed with single-minded determination to deliver a wholly immersive driving experience to those who secure one of the 765 available to customer order,” said Mr Flewitt.
The cost of the car is still to be announced but ‘Longtail’ McLarens always sell at a premium price.
