THE Organising Committee of the Strongest GCC Man held the fifth round of qualifiers in Muscat.
This comes after the qualifiers took place in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Dubai while Oman was the last stop for the qualifiers.
Oman qualifiers were organised at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat and witnessed a wide-scale participation.
The event featured three competitions - torso lifting, farmer walk and car lifting.
The finals will take place in Bahrain next month under the patronage of Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, first deputy president of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and president of Bahrain Olympic Committee.
The championship is part of Shaikh Khalid’s sports and humanitarian initiatives. The funds raised in the event will be dedicated to supporting cancer patients.
“The registration period witnessed active interaction from young people in the GCC who were interested in competing in the qualifiers. The knock-out stage was hugely successful thanks to the participation of many sportspeople from across the GCC,” said secretary of the registration committee Abdullah Al Sayas.
Focus
Now our main focus is on the main event which will be an unique experience for sportspeople in the GCC region.
“Holding the qualifiers in various countries required us to double our efforts and we are happy with the outcome. I would like to thank Shaikh Khalid for his directions to hold the event,” he added.
