Bahrain and Serbia yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding on political consultation, in a step that reflects constant efforts to promote bilateral relations.
This came as Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani held a meeting with the Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister Branislav Nedimovic.
The two sides reviewed the course of relations and ways to improve them, emphasising the importance of developing co-ordination mechanisms.
Dr Al Zayani praised the results of the official visit of President Alexander Vucic to Bahrain, and discussions held by His Majesty King Hamad with the President of Serbia.
He added that the two sides stressed the need to exchange visits between senior officials of the two countries, and discussed combating terrorism and ways to collaborate in this regard.
He also praised the directives of His Majesty and President Vucic on the memorandum of understanding between the countries to provide the appropriate mechanism for political talks.
He also stated that the King issued an order to establish an embassy of Bahrain in Serbia, and the President of Serbia issued an order to establish a Serbian Embassy in Bahrain.
Assistant Foreign Minister Abdulla Al Doseri, European Affairs and European Union Directorate director Ambassador Shaikha Aysha Ahmed Saqer Al Khalifa, and Bahrain’s Ambassador to Serbia, residing in Moscow, Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Saati attended.
