The kingdom’s frontline superheroes have been immortalised in a stunning painting created by a teenage artist.
The Royal Medical Services Commander, Major General Professor Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, met the head of Riffa Views International School (RVIS) Tara Waudby, in the presence of a number of socially-distanced officials in the school administration.
During the meeting, an artwork produced by one of the school’s talented students, 15-year-old Isabella Sarmiento Mejia, was presented as a gift to celebrate the nation’s doctors, nurses and support staff.
“I created this piece to show how grateful we are for everything the frontline workers have done for us,” the Grade 10 pupil said. “The message that I was trying to portray was that the frontline workers are also our heroes just like the superheroes in movies.”

Ms Waudby also praised the national efforts undertaken by the Royal Medical Services and the National Medical Taskforce to Combat Coronavirus. She added that the gift stemmed from the desire of RVIS students to dedicate their artwork to the medical officials and teams.
Maj Gen Prof Shaikh Khalid said he fully appreciated the gesture, wishing RVIS every success in carrying out its educational mission.
He praised the school’s ‘great efforts’ in educating its students, faculty and staff on the national health guidelines that should be followed in light of the global pandemic and the spread of Covid-19.
