MANAMA: The King last night commended the role of religious scholars in promoting tolerance, unity and solidarity in the kingdom.
This came as His Majesty King Hamad received at Sakhir Palace Dr Shaikh Mohammed Taher bin Shaikh Suleiman Al Madani who was accompanied by a number of religious scholars.
They extended to the King heartfelt congratulations on Eid Al Fitr, praying to Allah Almighty to protect him and bless him with every success in serving the kingdom.
They also wished him abundant health and happiness and further growth and prosperity to Bahrain.
The King welcomed them and exchanged with them Eid Al Fitr good wishes, commending their role in serving Islam and Muslims.
His Majesty also received cables of congratulations on Eid Al Fitr from senior members of the Royal Family, Parliament Speaker, Shura Council Chairman, ministers, senior officials, dignitaries, MPs and Shura Council members, municipal councillors, governors, Bahrain’s ambassadors abroad, heads of diplomatic missions in the kingdom, heads of associations, federations, sports clubs and citizens.
The King also exchanged Eid greetings with leaders of GCC states, Arab, Islamic and friendly countries.
He wished them all good health and happiness, praying to Allah the Almighty to bless their countries and peoples with further progress and prosperity and lift Covid-19 pandemic off Muslim countries and the whole of humanity.
l His Majesty last night issued a royal decree pardoning and releasing 203 prisoners who were convicted in various court cases and have served part of their jail terms.
The royal gesture, marking Eid Al Fitr, reflects the King’s keenness to provide the pardoned inmates with the opportunity to integrate into society anew and participate in the kingdom’s development march.
