NEW dates have been announced for the Middle East’s premier jewellery show held in Bahrain annually to showcase dazzling masterpieces, timepieces and precious gems.
The Jewellery Arabia was expected to be held in November last year but was rescheduled for November 23 to 27 this year due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) infections.
However, organisers have once again changed the dates of the event, which will now be held from November 16 to 20.
As in previous years, the prestigious show will be held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Sanabis, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Backed by a 30-year track record of success, the five-day show unites the world’s most desirable brands and extraordinary designers with discerning buyers.
This year’s event will feature new country pavilions including space dedicated for GCC designers and emerging talent in the jewellery industry.
Visitors will experience a new entrance hall while the venue will have additional seating and enhanced décor.
A special mobile app will also be launched designed for visitors to navigate the show with ease onsite.
Jewellery Arabia is open free of charge to visitors, however, children aged under 16 will not be admitted.
“We have amended the dates of the event at the request of senior stakeholders both in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia,” the organisers said on the event’s official website.
“This was to allow for the inclusion in Q4 of additional government-supported events in Bahrain which we agree aid in the country’s efforts to bring back business tourism and revitalise the economy.”
The organisers said the new dates have been confirmed by venue and are “considered final”.
“With Jewellery Arabia moving a week earlier, we are confident that there is negligible impact and will ensure delivery of a seamless experience for our exhibitors and visitors.
“Over the coming months, we will be working with our suppliers and partners to deliver the most experiential and exciting edition of Jewellery Arabia in the 29-year history of the event.”
It is understood that the annual event will be open to only double jabbed visitors, though no official announcement has been made in this regard.
“We want to reassure you that we are, and will, continue to closely monitor developments of Covid-19,” the organisers stated in the FAQs section on the website.
“We are therefore following all safety advice and precautions as recommended by the local departments of health, as well as the World Health Organisation.”
The last edition of Jewellery Arabia in 2019 saw a record $36 million worth of jewellery sales, 12 per cent up from 2018.
Shoppers from more than 60 countries took part in the event.
