MANAMA: The Education Ministry could soon allow students to bring their smartphones and other personal devices to optimise their learning.
A pilot project, Bring Your Own Device, is being run in 84 government-run schools.
It is subjected to regulations to protect the privacy of students and staff as well as ensure the proper use of the devices, said director general of schools affairs Dr Mohammed Mubarak bin Ahmed.
Outcome of the experience will be assessed and discussed with students to ensure the feasibility of the measure.
Discussions with students, at the start of the school year, will also include topics like the safe use of information and communication technology and the best digital learning methods along with optimal use of communication devices and smartphones in the learning process, Dr Ahmed said.
