MANAMA: A bungling drug dealer was jailed for 10 years after he was caught red-handed digging a hole in the ground to leave drugs in a ‘dead drop’ for one of his customers.
The 44-year-old Pakistani immediately informed a plain-clothes officer that he was a drug dealer when the latter spotted him digging the hole in Riffa in August.
He was then arrested in possession of crystal meth, locally known as shabu, which was confiscated by the authorities.
“The policeman was driving in Riffa when he spotted the defendant digging a hole in the ground,” read the court ruling. “He then approached the defendant and asked him what he was doing.

“The defendant then told him that he was leaving drugs for another person to pick up. He also led authorities to narcotics in his vehicle.”
He claimed that he was selling narcotics on behalf of another man. “There is a person who uses BenefitPay and I just transport the drugs and leave them in dead drops,” he told prosecutors. I did not expect the policeman to spot me.”
The man was also fined BD5,000 and will be deported after completing his sentence.
