A COURT has kicked out a case filed by a general manager who claimed that he had bought a Mercedes G-Class SUV worth BD150,000 and had not rented it from his employer.
The Bahraini, aged 50, had filed a case against the car rental company at the High Civil Court.
He claimed that he had paid BD66,000 for the vehicle in cash and gave the remaining amount in instalments to his company in 2019.
However, lawyer Sukaina Saleh provided evidence that the Bahraini manager had rented the SUV for BD4,000 a month and did not buy the vehicle.
“The Bahraini manager claimed that he had bought the vehicle, but he failed to provide any evidence to back up his claims,” the court said in its verdict.
“The company said he had rented it and paid them BD4,000 a month.
“In addition, they said that he had illegally rented out the vehicle to other people.”
Ms Saleh said the Bahraini manager made up the claims in an attempt to drive away with the vehicle worth BD150,000.
“He (Bahraini manager) had left the company and wanted to take the Mercedes vehicle with him,” she told prosecutors.
“There is no official documents to prove that he had paid BD66,000.”
