A CLUSTER of 15 Covid-19 cases was traced to a 38-year-old male expatriate worker last week.
They all worked in the same company and shared the same accommodation unit as the index case, the Health Ministry’s weekly contact tracing report said.
The update, which analysed cases occurring between November 4 and 10, also reported that a 59-year-old Bahraini male exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms was found to have infected his wife, children and daughter-in-law, resulting in six positive cases in one household.
Five additional positive cases of Covid-19 emerged after a 22-year-old Bahraini woman started showing symptoms.
“The cases detected are family-related and include the index case’s mother and siblings,” the ministry added.
In another contact tracing highlight, a 37-year-old Bahraini man was found to have infected his wife and three children.
Overall, last week saw a drop in the number of new cases per day – from 39 to 26 on average.
In total, there were 182 confirmed cases, of which 107 were Bahraini and 75 were expatriates. Majority of them, 160 to be exact, were due to local transmission, while 22 cases emerged amongst travellers.
Random community testing identified 35 cases this week, while 42 tested positive after completing quarantine and 29 individuals developed symptoms before being identified as Covid-positive.
Close contact with existing cases was responsible for 54 people contracting the virus during the given period.
