MANAMA: Grant Thornton Abdulaal has expanded its team by nearly 30 per cent over the last 14 months, affirming the resilience and strong fundamentals of the Bahrain market.
Since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Bahraini-based tax, assurance and advisory firm has seen its headcount rise from 120 to 150 members, which includes seven partners, five directors and a strong focus on nationalisation and gender diversity in the workforce.
This has led to the global business strengthening its stake in the Bahrain office, which now has a wider footprint occupying the 14th floor in addition to the 12th floor at the Nakheel Tower in the Seef District.
Senior appointments across the firm’s IT, transaction advisory services, tax advisory and legal services include Nishith Saxena as the new Director for IT Advisory and Suresh Rohira as the new Partner for Tax Advisory.
These additions come as part of a drive to bolster capability at the firm as the world starts settling into a ‘new normal’.
Commenting on the growth, Grant Thornton Abdulaal senior partner Jatin Karia said, “The expansion has been a direct response to the rapid change in our client needs. Every industry and sector had to pivot, almost overnight, and we had to keep our clients future ready.”
“We decided it was time to build the next-generation organisation to match individual client pace and be ready to respond quickly and flexibly,” Mr Karia added.
Meanwhile, the firm’s managing partner Jassim Abdulaal has his eyes set on making Grant Thornton Bahrain an “employer of choice”.
“We can no longer be reactive. Rather, we need to exceed expectations of our clients and our people, and be ahead of the issues, to lead the way in shaping the future for our clients. Our vision is to be an organisation that keeps a sharp focus on quality to uncover fresh solutions,” asserted Mr Abdulaal.
“Our strategy since has been to equip the team and expand our resources. We had to ensure that our size, structure and culture allowed us to be uniquely connected with the markets we serve. The Grant Thornton advantage has always been that we can adapt our ways of working and tailor solutions appropriately.”
Yasser Abbas, partner at the firm, said, “As a firm, we serve clients of every scale in every industry. Our flexibility and agility have proven to be an asset to meet our clients’ needs which has changed over time.”
