A TOTAL of 58 Filipinos stranded in Bahrain returned back to their homes as part of the Philippine Embassy’s repatriation programme.
Among those repatriated were 10 detainees – one of whom had a two-month old daughter – and five wards from the embassy’s shelter.
The embassy collaborated with the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Overseas Worker Welfare Administration to provide seats at special rates on Gulf Air.
Collaborative efforts were also conducted with the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs and the security authorities to process and issue exit clearances.
The embassy reaffirmed that it continues to provide assistance in repatriating distressed Filipinos as part of their government’s Covid-19 response programme.
