MANAMA: The Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry is stepping up road projects countrywide to ease traffic movement.
The ministry allocated BD3.9 million to fast-track work on 10 urgent projects to tackle bottlenecks and expand the capacity of certain traffic-packed arteries.
The projects also aim to keep abreast of urban, investment and demographic growth in Bahrain.
Rayya Highway is being expanded to ease traffic flow from Galali and reduce congestion.
Work will soon start to expand Al Janabiya Highway as part of a plan to increase the flow of traffic and serve Salman Town.
Budaiya Highway will also undergo a major revamp to bring its overall capacity to 10,500 cars per hour during the peak hours.
