A LONG-TERM Bahrain resident is leaving with fond memories after spending almost four decades in the kingdom.
Indian expatriate Palakil Mavilavalapil Sreenivasan, 64, who was running an automobile garage in Salmabad, is returning to his hometown in Kannur, Kerala, after 44 years.
Mr Sreenivasan was a member of Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) and served three times as secretary of the arts department. He was also a founding member of the Kerala Social and Cultural Association.
He had written a book on his experiences in the kingdom. Titled Pavizha Thuruthinte Parilanakal (Nurturing Island of Pearls), the book was published in Thiruvananthapuram.
A copy of the book was recently donated to the BKS library, in the presence of president Radhakrishna Pillai and general secretary Varghese Karakkal.
Mr Sreenivasan has two daughters, both of whom are Information Technology professionals. The eldest, 35, is working in California, US, while her sister, 30, resides in Bangalore, India.
