What do you think is the best way to tackle the strays crisis?
‘Action with Compassion’ is the best approach. Stray dogs should be caught and housed in animal protection centres. They could be groomed and given or donated to animal-lovers. This way both groups (those who want strict action and others who want compassion) will be satisfied. Hope those who prefer compassion come forward to raise these animals and avoid the menace of stray dogs.

As a census is carried out for human beings, so should there be one for animals so that their number is regulated. This way people with pets can be identified and laws should be strict against mistreatment of the animals.

Take all the stray dogs and put them in a shelter. For instance, for all stray dogs in Juffair, have a shelter in Juffair, and so on. Allow people to adopt a dog without any payment. If the government needs money to take care of the dogs they can ask for donations from animal-lovers.

I think the best way is compassion. Pet-lovers need to adopt or provide shelters to all the strays dogs. I used to feed some stray dogs in our area. Now, I have adopted a puppy. If only I had the capability to adopt more. Hopefully, in the future we will see no more stray dogs.

Bahrain can follow the sample of some European countries which don’t have any more strays. Catch the dogs, keep them in shelters until they are adopted by responsible people who complete a training module for owning a pet. All the dogs should be spayed/neutered and chipped. Dog trade and import should be strictly controlled by the government. Dog breeders should be forced to have a licence for this activity.

Urgent steps are required to safeguard people’s lives. Stray dogs could be more dangerous for children in public places. It’s better if dogs are caught and given shelter in animal shelters far from public places, gardens, playing areas, etc.

The government should keep all dogs in shelters, and vaccinate them. The government should not issue new licences to keep dogs. The government should also have proper records for people keeping dogs at home. Anti-rabies injection should be available in Bahrain ASAP.

Catch, neuter and release. Veterinary trainees can practice for free and double up as a community service.

Government animal shelter, it’s necessary to keep the streets clean and to save stray dogs and cats; both sides win.

The stay dogs must be put into shelters, where they will receive food and attention. Those who are interested in adopting a pet can get it from there. These shelters should get funding from the government and private companies.
