MANAMA: Bahraini people are aware of provocative content broadcast by satellite news channels, researcher Ali Amin Al Rayes said.
Bahrainis avoid watching these channels, he said, noting that Al Jazeera, for example, focused in its coverage of Bahrain news on mobilisation, incitement, scepticism and incitement to hatred and sectarianism.
In his thesis submitted for PhD degree, which he acquired from the Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University, Egypt, Mr Al Rayes called on educational institutions to confront misleading media by raising awareness and introducing media culture into the curriculum.
He also called on the Information Affairs Ministry to address such media by creating an integrated news centre, stressing the importance of enhancing the role of Bahrain News Agency to be the main source of the kingdom’s news in various traditional and new international media.
