A MAN allegedly stole his friend’s vehicle and used his CPR to rent a hotel room.
However, the 32-year-old Bahraini defendant denied the theft and using his friend’s CPR as he appeared in the High Criminal Court yesterday.
The victim, a 33-year-old fellow national, said that the defendant had stolen his vehicle when they were having dinner at a restaurant in Manama in June this year.
The defendant then allegedly also used the victim’s CPR to rent a hotel room and sold the latter’s mobile phone for BD255 at a nearby shop, according to court documents.
The victim described his shock when he learned of his friend’s actions.
“I have known him for more than four years and I never expected him to do this to me,” said the security guard in his statement to prosecutors. “I went to have dinner with him on the day of the incident at a restaurant in Exhibition Avenue, when he drove away in my car while I was still eating inside.
“I informed the police and later found him at a hotel after I received a tip-off from a friend. “I then went to the hotel and found my CPR at reception.”
The trial has been adjourned until Monday for review.
