A probe has been launched into claims that a seventh-grade student was brutally assaulted and bullied by a group of boys at a public school in Karzakan.
The Education Ministry yesterday announced the decision following complaints from a parent, who claimed that their son was harassed and attacked at the Al Khalil Bin Ahmed Intermediate School for Boys last week.
The ministry said the operations management in the educational zone has launched an investigation.
According to our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej, the alleged incident occurred a week ago at the school and despite the seventh grader coming forward to the school administration, no action had been taken.
Three students allegedly closed the classroom door on the victim’s hand, several times, which resulted in the boy suffering fractures. While he informed the school administration about the violent act, he did not reveal the suspects’ identities, the report said.
The Education Ministry said tough penalties would be imposed on students who indulge in physical violence or bullying.
“Action will be taken after completion of the necessary educational and disciplinary investigations,” the ministry added.
Meanwhile, a probe has also been launched into a fight that broke out between a group of youngsters outside the Hamad Town Secondary Boys’ School, as reported by the GDN yesterday.
The Education Ministry released the statement on Thursday evening after a video of the brawl was circulated on social media.
“The Communications Directorate has taken steps to ensure that discipline and order are maintained in the school,” the ministry said in a statement.
“Once the investigation is over, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against students involved in the incident.”
