A NUMBER of items have been banned from the public Holy Mass being celebrated by the visiting Pope Francis at Bahrain National Stadium on November 5 at 8.30am, said organisers.
The list includes weapons, fireworks, animals, long umbrellas, strollers, mind-altering substances, spray cans, flammable substances, lighters, confetti, balloons, large quantities of paper, and instruments that produce loud sounds such as megaphones, vuvuzelas, drums and loudspeakers.
Anything that ‘could impair the enjoyment of the event by other spectators’ are prohibited such as banners and clothing featuring ideological statements.
Also banned are commercial and promotional materials, including promotions for charities.
To prevent livestreaming and broadcasting of the event, video cameras and sound recording equipment have been prohibited from the venue.
Food will be allowed in small quantities, while light refreshments will be available at the venue.
Meanwhile, a transportation plan has been announced to get all attendees safely and in an orderly manner to the event.
Attendees must take a taxi or drive to the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir and park there.
Security counters will open at 2am, and the first buses heading to the stadium in Riffa will depart at 3am.
The venue’s gates will close at 7am ahead of the event which starts at 8.30am.
A printout of the ticket and a passport or CPR must be provided for every attendee including children, the elderly and special needs individuals.
Disabled people and VIPs can park at Bahrain Polytechnic and will be taken to the stadium via a shuttle.
The Pope’s historic visit to Bahrain from November 3-6 also includes a welcoming ceremony at Sakhir Palace, a forum attended by the Grand Imam of Al Azhar and a ‘Meeting with the Youth’ at Sacred Heart School, Bahrain.
