A group of students from Al Jabriya Secondary Technical Boys School have designed a solar-powered smart traffic system which can be used on highways.
Supervised by their teacher Mahmoud Abu Al Yazid, the team included students Ahmed Abdul Shaheed, Isa Ibrahim, Ridha Ali, Mohammed Qahtan and Ahmed Ateya.
The students relied on recycling to design four electric posts connected to lithium batteries.
The environment-friendly and energy saving traffic system relies on solar power and the wind to operate the lamps.
The metallic structure was designed at the department of welding, while the IT section provided the electrical and electronic connections.
Professional supervisor Majeed Salman stressed the importance of turning the school into a centre that hones advanced skills and links students with the requirements of the labour market.
