CURIOUS creatives can come together at Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre to enhance their artistic abilities.
A Crochet Workshop is being held next week.
Crochet, also known as knitting, is the craft of winding a thread with small needles that have a hooked shape known as yarns, which are usually made of wool, silk, or cotton.
It’s a favourite technique amongst needle workers, because yarn stitches allow you to create beautiful home decor accessories from tablecloths and bedspreads to doilies and delicate edgings.
This versatile technique also produces fashion items such as vests, sweaters, mittens and hats, scarves as well as items for babies.
During the workshop, participants will learn a brief about crochet types, identify hooks and yarn types, learn basic crochet stitches, their names, and symbols, as well as how to read different pattern designs.
A workshop focusing on the craft of Smock Stitching will teach participants the tools used and the stages necessary to obtain a wonderful and attractive product.
They will learn how to draw shapes and transfer it onto a canvas and use stitches, recognise fabric types and how to draw on and fold canvas amongst others. Both workshops are being organised from Sunday to Thursday and will go on from 4pm to 6pm daily.
