BAHRAINI women’s achievements and contributions will be highlighted today as the nation celebrates Bahraini Women’s Day today under the theme, ‘Read – Learned – Participated’.
Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad and Supreme Council for Women president, was congratulated on the occasion.
“This year’s theme stems from the early beginnings of Bahraini women’s involvement in the development process and their continuous aspiring contributions,” said the SCW on its website.
“Fourteen years have passed since the adoption of the generous initiative of HRH Princess Sabeeka to dedicate a national day for Bahraini women on the first of December of each year,” it added.
“This comes in appreciation of Bahraini women’s march which coincides with the 80th anniversary of formal education for women in 2008.”
Meanwhile, Bahraini women’s achievements in all sectors were praised.
“The march of Bahraini women in the labour market is bright and moving forward and the ministry is moving forward towards launching more initiatives in support of them,” said Labour Minister Jameel Humaidan.
“Bahraini women represent 54 per cent of Bahraini employees in the public sector, 35pc in the private sector and 39pc of the overall national workforce,” he added in a statement.

Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Yasser Humaidan expressed pride in the achievements and contributions made by Bahraini women across all fields.
He also highlighted the critical role played by the SCW in strengthening the status of Bahraini women as fundamental pillars in the comprehensive development of the country.
“The continuous efforts made by the government, headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, ensured Bahraini women the elements of effective participation in national work and gave them the full opportunity to advance in various fields,” said Youth Affairs Minister Rawan Tawfiqi.
