Skilled surgeons in Bahrain have succeeded in removing a cancerous tumour from a patient using an advanced imaging procedure.
The 47-year-old Bahraini had been suffering from ulcerative colitis, a chronic disease that results in inflammation and ulcers in the colon and rectum.
“The Salmaniya Medical Complex team removed the tumour using complex techniques involving endoscopes,” said a Government Hospitals statement last night.
The theatre team was led by consultant Dr Ahmed Jawad, working alongside specialist Dr Israa Sami and residents Dr Jasim Al Aradi, Dr Ameera Ali and Dr Sara Abdulameer.
Following the successful operation, the patient is currently undergoing a course of integrative medicine as part of his treatment plan.
