The Foreign Ministry has expressed Bahrain’s strong condemnation of the Swedish authorities for granting permission to an extremist to burn a copy of the Holy Quran outside the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm.
The ministry described such an act as a serious provocation to the feelings of millions of Muslims, an incitement to religious hatred, and a violation of international human rights principles and covenants.
It reiterated the kingdom’s call on the international community to assume its responsibilities in criminalising acts and calls that incite extremism as well as religious and racial hatred, including combating Islamophobia, xenophobia and anti-Muslim crimes, preventing offence to all religions, beliefs, sanctities and religious symbols.
