David James, a British retired Royal Navy Commando, miraculously lived to tell the tale of a vicious attack launched by his compatriot after the former tried to stop him from drunk driving.
David, aged 80, would have been spending his retired life in peace in the beautiful hills of La Viñuela, Malaga, Spain, if not for his noisy neighbour - a retired councillor, aged in his 70s.
According to an exclusive MailOnline report, David saw his neighbour's wife running away from their house screaming, "He's going to kill me, he's going to kill me."
Moments later, the suspect - DB (full name not revealed) - was seen emerging from his driveway with his car keys, in a visibly intoxicated state.
Concerned that DB might drive under the influence, David and another neighbour blocked the end of the road with their cars.
However, the matter quickly escalated out of control as an agitated DB started driving up and down the driveway blaring his horn.
When the car finally came to a halt, David jumped at the opportunity to take the keys out of the ignition.
At this moment, DB revved the engine and sped towards David - knocking him against the wall.
DB then reversed the car over David before charging and reversing over the octagenarian one more time.
Horrified neighbours then pulled the injured David into his driveway, out of harm’s way.
DB then rammed the gate, climbed out of the car, and tried to stab David with a pole.
The incident reportedly left David with no teeth, a fractured pelvis and ribs. But David is happy to have survived the attack.
This, however, is not the first time that DB tried to harm David. Eighteen months ago, DB attacked David with an axe but the case was settled out of court.
DB has now been charged with attempted murder and is currently being held in prison awaiting trial.
