INSPECTIONS have been stepped up by the Coastguard to address maritime violations and ensure fishermen are adhering to rules and regulations regarding fishing and residency laws.
This comes as part of a campaign to protect and preserve marine wealth in the waters of the kingdom. Patrols are being carried out off the northern coast of the kingdom. Authorities are checking the validity of marine licences for small seafaring vehicles.
They also inspected the vessels to ensure that all necessary safety equipment is on board, and that they do not contain illegal fishing equipment. No violations have been reported in the latest rounds of inspections.
Inspections will be regularly held over the next few months for duration of the shrimping ban that is in place until July 31.
