All the technical systems at Bahrain International Airport are working perfectly, confirmed the company running the facility.
However, some flights have been cancelled and rescheduled due to reasons other than the global IT outage, added the Bahrain Airport Company.
It said that it is closely following the latest global developments in this regard and is keen to continuously co-ordinate with official authorities to take the necessary precautionary measures in case of an emergency.
The company also urged all passengers to follow up on the status of their flights with the airlines they are travelling with.
“In response to what was published regarding the cancellation, delay and rescheduling of some flights, the company would like to clarify that the flights were not affected at Bahrain International Airport and that the cancellation or delay referred to may be due to other reasons unrelated to the technical systems at Bahrain International Airport,” said a BAC statement.
The Foreign Ministry also advised citizens travelling abroad to check and communicate with airline companies to verify the status of their return flights to Bahrain.
Alternatively, citizens can call the ministry's hotline, +97317227555, round the clock in case of an emergency.
The National Committee for Civil Emergency Management said that electronic systems in Bahrain were stable and the impact of the global IT outage on some companies’ systems were limited with no indications of either a breach or cyberattack.
The committee, headed by Public Security Chief Lieutenant-General Tariq Al Hassan, confirmed that it was following up on the global technical glitch, in co-ordination with various relevant authorities.
The committee urged people to obtain information from official sources, stressing that the information will be updated periodically and the public will be informed of any new developments.
