A new system that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to detect building violations is set to be launched.
This was announced by the Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB), which will deploy the system in co-operation with satellite imagery and earth data analytics company Planet Labs.
The firm will provide AI reports in co-ordination with the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry.
SLRB president Bassim Al Hamar explained that the system employs technologies that monitors structural, environmental and urban changes accurately by comparing high-resolution satellite images.
“AI has the ability to process and analyse images quickly and on a large scale in an accurate and more efficient manner, thus enhancing the government’s ability to monitor violations,” he said.
“It is an example of the ability of technology to transform government work, and save time and effort while enhancing compliance with laws and regulations.
“The new system will serve the country’s sustainable development goals, improve city planning, and monitor erosion due to natural and man-made factors.”
