Isa Bin Salman Educational Charitable Trust Board of Trustees and Labour Fund (Tamkeen) chairman Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa yesterday underscored the pivotal role of Bahrain’s national workforce in driving economic growth and achieving ambitious national goals.
Praising Bahrainis’ capabilities, Shaikh Isa stressed the importance of continuous investment in talent development through specialised training programmes. He reiterated the commitment to implementing innovative initiatives that align with the kingdom’s comprehensive development vision under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
At a launch ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay, Shaikh Isa unveiled Skills Bahrain and the Employability Skills Portal, both initiatives under the umbrella of Tamkeen. He explained that these initiatives represent a comprehensive approach to address labour market demands and bridge the skills gap.
Skills Bahrain aims to foster collaboration among government, private sector and educational institutions to create a skills-based ecosystem that connects individuals with employers and provides relevant training opportunities. By conducting research and analysing labour market data, Skills Bahrain identifies skill gaps and guides stakeholders in addressing them.
The Employability Skills Portal, a unique platform in the region, empowers students, job-seekers, employees, employers and training institutions with essential data and insights into labour market dynamics. This initiative, a collaboration between Skills Bahrain, the Information and eGovernment Authority, and other partners, empowers Tamkeen to develop human capital initiatives that enhance the skills and competitiveness of local talent.
