A worker in northern British Columbia, Canada, fended off a cougar, a large American wildcat, by punching it in the face when it attacked him while he was walking by a lake.
“A cougar approached him and swiped his upper body. The man, who was interviewed (by conservation officers), told them he punched the cougar in the face, and it disengaged,” a Facebook post from the British Columbia Conservation Officer Service said.
The man required no treatment at all and escaped unharmed.
