FOOTBALL – BAHRAIN’S under-20 football national team posted their second victory in as many days in a friendly match played as part of their ongoing training camp in Türkiye.
The nationals came away with a 2-0 victory last night over their counterparts from Turkish club Kartalsport Kulubu.
The Bahrainis took the lead with an own goal by their opponents, and then Abdulrahman Bassam fired in their second to help secure the win.
Bassam was on target for the second successive evening. He was also one of four to find the net in Bahrain’s 4-0 win on Monday night against the under-20 squad of Turkish outfit Golcuksport 1984.
Bahrain are conducting their camp as part of their preparations for the Gulf Cup U-20 2025, which is scheduled to kick off later this month.
The nationals are expected to play other friendlies during their stay in Türkiye, which is being supervised by head coach Ali Aamer. They are scheduled to continue this gathering until the third week of August, just ahead of the regional competition, which will be held in Abha, Saudi Arabia.
Bassam is part of a 28-player squad in the camp. The others are Yahya Adel, Mubarak Fawaz, Abdulla Osama, Mohammed Bahzad, Hadi Ghazi, Al Tayeb Al Basri, Ali Hussain, Ebrahim Ali, Faisal Rashid, Khaled Mohammed, Mohammed Salah, Ali Mahran, Amjad Jaafar, Adam Fareed, Khaled Al Khalidi, Ebrahim Ayash, Ebrahim Al Marisi, Mohammed Adel, Qassim Jameel, Abbas Mohammed, Hussain Al Haiki, Khaled Ahmed, Ahmed Nasser, and goalkeepers Abdulla Ahmed, Hassan Ali, Abdulla Al Shawi, and Isa Al Thawadi.
The Gulf Cup U-20 2025 is being organised by the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF). Bahrain are set to compete in Group B for the tournament’s preliminary round alongside Oman, Iraq, and Egypt, while Group A features Qatar, Kuwait, Yemen, and hosts Saudi.
