FOOTBALL – BAHRAIN’S Sitra played to a goalless stalemate against Al Qadsia from Kuwait last night in their third match of the 2025-26 AGCFF Gulf Club Champions League.
The contest took place at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town, and neither side could find the target.
It was the second straight nil-nil draw for the kingdom’s representatives in the tournament. They also went scoreless against Zakho from Iraq in their previous assignment at home, after opening their campaign with a heavy 1-4 away defeat to Al Ain of the UAE.
Sitra are the lone Bahraini side competing in this year’s Gulf Club Champions League, which is the second edition of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF) tournament.
Last night’s result saw Sitra improve to two points on the Group A standings, while Qadsia scored their first point.
In yesterday’s other divisional clash, Zakho defeated Al Ain 2-0 to rise to the top of the table with seven points following their second victory. The Iraqis handed the Emiratis their first loss in three games as they stayed on six markers in second place.
Sitra will be looking to bounce back from yesterday’s setback when they go up against Qadsia again December 23 – this time away in Kuwait City. They then host Al Ain in their penultimate fixture on February 10 of next year, before completing their Group A schedule away against Zakho on February 18.
Sitra are competing in this year’s AGCFF Gulf Club Champions League after finishing an impressive third amongst 12 clubs in the 2024-25 Nasser Bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League.
Group B in the preliminaries features Al Shabab from Saudi Arabia, Al Nahda from Oman, Al Rayyan from Qatar, and Al Tadamun Hadramaut from Yemen.
