Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa praised yesterday the unlimited support given by His Majesty King Hamad to the sports sector, and the interest of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which have resulted in many sporting achievements in the year 2025.
Shaikh Khalid praised the follow-up of His Majesty’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and SCYS chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
This came as Shaikh Khalid chaired the eighth meeting of the GSA board of directors, in the presence of GSA deputy chairman Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and the rest of the members.
Shaikh Khalid reviewed the regulations for organising and developing the licensing of commercial sports activities, as well as the developments made to the GSA website and the electronic licensing system (eGSA).
Shaikh Khalid was also briefed on the talent selection programme in the schools of the kingdom, and the list of projects and proposed construction systems for the projects.
A proposal to develop the property of the Youth Centre Hall in Juffair Sports was also reviewed, as well as the work programme for developing natural grass playing fields.
GSA CEO Dr Abdulrahman Askar also gave a comprehensive presentation on the governance programme and on new developments.
