A heartfelt plea has been made by a distraught Bahraini family for the general public to look out for a missing young man who recently suffered a head injury in a car crash.
Ali Al Nasheet, a popular 20-year-old Bahrain University student and part-time supermarket cashier, left his Salmabad home on Friday and has not been seen since.
Speaking to the GDN, his father, Abduljalil, appealed for any information about his son’s whereabouts. “He just took his car to get some ice cream around 12.30am and has been missing ever since,” he said.
“His phone was ringing at first, then it suddenly stopped. The next time we tried, his phone was shut off.
“We have no idea what happened or where he could have gone. Neither he nor the car has returned or been found anywhere.
“He is very studious and is one of the top performers at his university. He starts the day off by going to university and attending his classes, then he goes to his work and returns home at around midnight.
“We have already filed a missing person’s report with the police and are anxiously awaiting news.”
Mr Al Nasheet said that Ali was involved in a serious traffic accident a few months ago. He needed intensive care treatment and remains under regular medical supervision.
A Government Hospitals’ medical report, shared by the family, records that the crash took place last September, resulting in ‘multiple skull fractures, bilateral traumatic lung contusions, superior and inferior pubic rami fractures, left scapular fracture and a mandibular fracture’.
Ali underwent maxillofacial surgery and a tracheostomy and, after almost a month of recovery, he was discharged on October 2.
Before his discharge, he was deemed conscious and clinically stable, but required regular follow-up care with neurosurgeons and to this day remains on medication.
Mr Al Nasheet said that he had already filed a report with the Khamis Police Station and officers were working diligently and ‘sparing no effort’ in trying to locate his missing son.
“They told me that they have not yet received any reports or sightings of Ali,” he said. “Also, it has been confirmed that he had not been taken into any hospital or medical centre in Bahrain.”
Hospital bosses are aware of his missing status and have promised to contact the family ‘the very second’ should he show up.
“We were also informed by the authorities that he almost certainly has not crossed the King Fahad Causeway as they have no record of him, nor the car, passing by,” added his concerned dad.
- Mr Al Nasheet urges anyone who may have details about his missing son, no matter how small, to reach out to the family. He can be contacted on 36777406.
