The 20th edition of the Spring of Culture festival has been postponed in light of the ongoing situation, the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca) has announced.
Baca noted that the Spring of Culture team is working on bringing the festival to the kingdom ‘at a later date’.
“While the festival will not take place as originally scheduled, our team is already working behind the scenes to bring you an inspiring and unforgettable experience at a later date,” Baca said in its announcement, posted online.
“Spring of Culture has always been a celebration of creativity, connection, and shared cultural moments – and that spirit remains unchanged.”
“We look forward to welcoming you back soon with a refreshed programme filled with exceptional performances, exhibitions, and artistic encounters.”
The festival was supposed to run from March to May, featuring collaborations with Albareh Art Space, Al Riwaq Art Space, Art Concept Gallery, Folk Art Space, La Fontaine Centre for Contemporary Art and Souq Al Baraha.
The French, German, Palestinian, Italian, Indian and Chinese Embassies were also set to participate with a variety of linked lectures and cultural events.
Key performances for the 20th edition, as previously announced, included Cirque Du Soleil, family-friendly comedy Alarm Bell, American singer and songwriter Josh Groban, German band 4Tunes, Portrait of Ennio Morricone, beloved children’s classic The Cat in the Hat by Dr Seuss, and the award-winning Underwater Bubble Show.
Due to the ongoing Iranian attacks, all Baca cultural sites continue to be temporarily closed.
Spring of Culture is the latest event to be postponed as a result of the ongoing attacks.
Other events that will not take place as originally scheduled, include Bahrain Comic Con, Bahrain Gulf Air Formula 1 Grand Prix and Andre Rieu’s April 3 concert.
