HANDBALL – AL Shabab maintained their winning ways last night ahead of the Golden Square semi-finals in the 2025-26 Khalid Bin Hamad Bahrain Handball League.
Shabab edged past Al Ettihad 35-33 in their gameweek 19 clash to return to second place on the standings – behind only unbeaten leaders and defending champions Al Najma.
Shabab did enough to eke ahead in the second half after they were held to a 17-all deadlock at the break. With the result, Shabab claimed their 15th win in 18 outings to go to 49 points, just one behind Najma as they head into the home stretch of the regular season. Ettihad suffered their 10th loss in 17 games and went to 31 points.
In another game yesterday, Samaheej battled past Bahrain Club 27-25 in a clash between the league’s bottom two clubs.
Samaheej trailed 11-13 at the interval but roared back after the re-start to come away with the victory – only their third of the season to improve to 23 points in second-to-last place. They handed Bahrain Club their league-worst 16th loss as they went to 20 points on the table.
Both of last night’s games, played at the Bahrain Handball Federation Arena in Um Al Hassam Sports Complex with no fans in attendance, wrapped up round 19 of this campaign.
