The ambassadors of the GCC states and Jordan accredited to Malaysia, under the chairmanship of Bahrain’s Ambassador in Kuala Lumpur Dr Waleed Khalifa Al Manea, met Ahmad Rozian bin Abdul Ghani, deputy secretary-general for bilateral affairs at the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to discuss developments related to the reprehensible Iranian attacks.
The Ambassador expressed appreciation to the Malaysian side for the existing co-operation and co-ordination, noting that this engagement comes as Bahrain currently holds the presidency of the GCC and its presidency of the United Nations Security Council for the month of April.
Ambassador Al Manea commended Malaysia’s support for United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, submitted by Bahrain, which condemned the Iranian attacks on the GCC states and Jordan. He conveyed the appreciation of the participating states for Malaysia’s position, particularly its support for the resolution adopted on March 11, which reflected an international consensus of 136 countries in condemning the attacks and protecting regional stability.
He also referred to the draft resolution submitted by Bahrain to the United Nations Human Rights Council on March 25, which addressed the humanitarian consequences of the war waged by Iran against the GCC states and Jordan, affirming that the resolution underscores the protection of civilians and accountability for those responsible for human rights violations.
