More than 200,000 people have signed an electronic pledge of allegiance, launched by the Bahrain Association for Religious Coexistence and Tolerance, to promote national unity during ongoing geopolitical tensions.
The ‘Walaa’ platform invites people of all nationalities to sign a pledge of ‘full support and unwavering loyalty’ to Bahrain’s leadership and its efforts in confronting the ‘heinous Iranian aggression’.
“Out of our national responsibility, and renewing our pledge of loyalty and belonging, and in categorical rejection of any interference in the internal affairs of Bahrain, we, the citizens and residents of this dear homeland, affirm our full support and unwavering loyalty to our wise leadership in confronting the heinous Iranian aggressions targeting Bahrain’s security and stability,” the pledge reads.
“As we express our pride in the firm stance of the political leadership in protecting the kingdom’s sovereignty and preserving its rights, we declare our commitment to stand united behind His Majesty the King, affirming that national unity is the impregnable fortress against all threats.
“We also renew our pledge to be up to the task, sincere in performing our national duty, and loyal to this precious homeland.
“We support all the efforts exerted by the Bahrain Defence Force, Interior Ministry and all other relevant government bodies in protecting the security of the homeland, its citizens and residents.
“We pledge to God and our wise leadership that we will remain loyal soldiers of this nation, protecting it with our unity and preserving it with our devotion.
“May God protect Bahrain and perpetuate its glory, security and stability under its wise leadership.”
Within 24 hours of going live, the electronic pledge, available at taayoush.com, garnered 200,000 signatures.
The pledge form has been made available in 38 languages including Tagalog, Hindi, Greek, Chinese, Russian, Kurdish and German, and requires users to submit their first and last names, as well as their mobile numbers.
“The overwhelming response reflects a high level of national pride and the online platform has seen remarkable engagement from the outset,” the association’s president Yousif Bu Zaboon noted.
Bahrain designer Hassan Haji helped create the visual brand identity for the project, and Jameel Al Khawaja developed and implemented the online platform.
Mr Bu Zaboon added that the idea of the platform stemmed from a firm belief in the importance of creating an inclusive national space that enables both citizens and residents to express their genuine loyalty, while reflecting the true image of Bahraini society founded on tolerance, coexistence and solidarity.
He added that the association hopes to reach every individual in Bahrain through the platform and the broader ambition is to transform it into a sustainable initiative highlighting national awareness campaigns, community events and strong public-private partnerships.
He noted that both citizens and residents can show their loyalty by abiding by the law, contributing positively to society, promoting a balanced and moderate discourse, supporting government institutions, engaging constructively with national initiatives and countering misinformation and rumours that target the country’s security and stability.
