MOTORSPORT – BAHRAINI-BRITISH GT team 2 Seas Motorsport return to action in the 2026 GT World Challenge (GTWC) Europe this weekend.
The season’s second round will be taking place tomorrow and Sunday at Brands Hatch in England and it will be the first event in this campaign’s Sprint Cup.
2 Seas, co-owned by Bahrain’s Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, will be racing with just one car in the meeting – their #3 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, which they operate in collaboration with Team Verstappen Racing, owned by four-time Formula One drivers’ world champion Max Verstappen.
The #3 challenger had an impressive outing in the GTWC Europe’s season-opener last month held at Circuit Paul Ricard in France, where the crew of Spaniard Daniel Juncadella, Briton Chris Lulham, and Frenchman Jules Gounon powered to seventh amongst Pro Cup runners, while placing in ninth overall from the massive 58-car. They started the six-hour endurance race sixth in class and eighth overall.
Juncadella, Lulham, and Gounon raced at Paul Ricard alongside 2 Seas’ trio of Charles Dawson, Kiern Jewiss, and Reece Barr, who shared the duties in their #222 Mercedes-AMG – entered in the GTWC Europe’s Bronze Cup.
At Brands Hatch, Juncadella and Lulham will be hitting the tarmac as part of a 34-strong field, featuring 14 cars in the Pro Cup, eight in the Gold Cup, and 12 in the Silver Cup.
There will be no Bronze Cup contenders on the grid as this category will be absent in the meeting due to space limitations at the venue, championship organisers have revealed. 2 Seas’ #222 challenger will therefore not be racing.
Eight of the world’s leading manufacturers are to be represented this weekend, including Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes, and Porsche.
Heading into the meeting, 2 Seas are eighth on the overall teams’ championship standings with four points, with Comtoyou Racing in first on 33 points. 2 Seas are also currently fourth amongst bronze teams with 15 points, with Rutronik Racing leading on 33.
Meanwhile, Juncadella, Lulham, and Gounon are tied-ninth on the overall drivers’ championship standings with two points apiece, whereas Dawson, Jewiss, and Barr are tied-fourth on the bronze drivers’ rankings with 15 points each.
The GTWC Europe’s 2026 calendar is composed of 10 rounds. Sprint weekends will also take place at Misano Adriatico in Italy in July; at Magny-Cours in France in July and August; at Zandvoort in the Netherlands in September; and at Barcelona in Spain in October.
Other endurance races will be held at Monza in Italy at the end of this month; at Spa in Belgium in June, which will be a 24-hour race; at the Nurburgring in Germany in August; and at Algarve in Portugal in October.
A prologue in Spa is also scheduled for May 19 and 20, in preparation for next month’s day-long spectacle.
