Foreign Minister and National Human Rights Committee chairman Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani praised the noble role of journalism and media in upholding integrity and objectivity, promoting a culture of peace, and supporting Bahrain’s comprehensive development under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad.
Marking Bahrain Press Day in its 12th year, Dr Al Zayani congratulated His Majesty and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, describing it as a national milestone reflecting the leadership’s support for responsible freedom of expression and constructive media as a pillar of peace and the rule of law.
He also praised His Majesty’s statement on World Press Freedom Day, which highlighted the media’s role alongside the BDF as a parallel line of defence in addressing the blatant Iranian attacks, strengthening national awareness, and conveying Bahrain’s position with credibility and professionalism.
Dr Al Zayani stressed the importance of responsible media as a partner to Bahrain’s balanced diplomacy, particularly in light of the kingdom’s non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council, and its efforts that contributed to international resolutions calling for respect for sovereignty, good neighbourliness, and the protection of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Transportation and Telecommunications Minister and King Hamad Global Centre for Coexistence and Tolerance board of trustees chirman Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa affirmed that responsible journalism and media play an important role in promoting coexistence and national and humanitarian values.
Dr Shaikh Abdulla also commended His Majesty’s statement issued on World Press Freedom Day and his emphasis on Bahrain’s national unity among followers of different religions and beliefs in times of prosperity and adversity.
Bahrain Journalists Association chairman Isa Al Shayji congratulated members of the association and Bahrain’s media community on the occasion, commending the national role played by journalists, broadcasters, writers, and media professionals in promoting awareness, strengthening national unity, and supporting the kingdom’s security and stability.
He called for continued efforts to confront media misinformation and rumours, particularly on social media platforms, and to raise public awareness of attempts aimed at undermining social cohesion and national unity.
