An inspection visit to review the latest progress on the works of the Isa Town Northern Junction Development Project was yesterday conducted by Works Minister Ibrahim Al Hawaj.
Considered one of the top strategic projects aimed at enhancing efficiency of the road network and improving traffic flow, the project connects a number of vital areas across the kingdom,
including Riffa, Aali, Sanad, Salmabad and Isa Town.
It includes the construction of a three-lane flyover in each direction to provide free-flowing traffic along Shaikh Salman Highway, in addition to installing traffic signals, construction of a stormwater drainage network, road paving, pavement improvements, landscaping and beautification works, and the provision of traffic safety requirements.
During the visit, Mr Al Hawaj revealed that the project will increase the road’s capacity to more than 160,000 vehicles per day upon completion.
“This will contribute to reducing traffic congestion, particularly on Shaikh Salman Highway, which links the Capital, Northern and Southern Governorates,” he said.
“It is important to accelerating the pace of works to complete the project, while applying the highest standards of quality and safety. It is also vital to take all necessary measures to minimise the impact of construction works on traffic movement and ensure smooth traffic flow.”
