Seven Bahraini youth have restored an historic house in the heart of Muharraq, transforming it into ‘Bayt Lamea,’ the official headquarters of the national Lamea Project to empower young leaders.
Latifa Bouhaji, a member of the project’s executive committee, told Akhbar Al Khaleej that the initiative was the idea of chairperson of Lamea Project Shaikha Dwa bint Khalid Al Khalifa. The heritage building will host Lamea graduates, youth activities and workshops while preserving its historic character.
Bouhaji said the restoration was completed by a team of seven young Bahrainis without the help of a specialised engineering consultancy. Since its launch in 2021, the Lamea Project has graduated about 130 young people and is expanding its leadership programmes, including AI applications and Lamea Junior.
Shaikha Dwa expressed her appreciation for the continued support of Youth Affairs Minister Rawan Tawfiqi.
