FOOTBALL – Bahrain's Riffa will be flying the kingdom’s flag in the 2026-27 AGCFF Gulf Club Champions League, it has been confirmed.
The Arabian Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF) has approved the list of clubs participating in the next edition of the tournament, which is set to feature an expanded field of 12 teams representing the AGCFF’s various national federations.
The new campaign is scheduled to kick off on October 13 and continue until April 30 next year.
Riffa are the lone team from Bahrain taking part in the tournament.
The others are Ettifaq and Neom from Saudi Arabia, Al Nasr and Ajman from the UAE, Al Duhail and Qatar SC from Qatar, Erbil and Al Zawraa from Iraq, Al Shabab from Oman, Kazma from Kuwait, and Shaab Hadramaut from Yemen.
The clubs were selected, as per tournament regulations, based on their results in their domestic leagues, in addition to their club rankings in the Asian Football Confederation for the 2026-27 season.
The upcoming AGCFF Gulf Club Champions League will be its third edition being held in its current format.
Duhok from Iraq won the title in its maiden running when Riffa also took part, while Al Rayyan from Qatar took the crown last season when Sitra represented Bahrain.
