Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amna Al Romaihi participated in the interactive multi-stakeholder dialogue sessions held as part of the high-level meeting on the midterm review of the implementation of the New Urban Agenda at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The minister participated in two interactive dialogue sessions, during which she reviewed Bahrain’s experience in developing housing programmes, modernising the housing finance system, and strengthening partnerships with the private sector to support sustainable urban development and enhance the quality of services provided to citizens.
She reviewed Bahrain’s approach to developing its housing services and programmes by providing a range of homeownership solutions, including the purchase of housing units and residential plots, self-build options, and the purchase of off-plan housing units.
She also highlighted the development of housing finance programmes tailored to different eligible groups, offering greater flexibility in selecting housing solutions, expanding homeownership opportunities, and supporting family stability.
The minister also highlighted the kingdom’s efforts to improve the quality of government housing services through business process re-engineering, expanded digital transformation and the launch of integrated electronic services.
She said these initiatives have shortened the customer journey, accelerated transaction processing, improved government service efficiency, enhanced access to housing services, improved the beneficiary experience and reinforced efficiency and sustainability in service delivery.
Ms Al Romaihi said Bahrain’s housing programmes are continuously reviewed to ensure they respond to economic and social developments.
